, Clearing the hurdles
There have been widespread violations of trade union rights in Sri Lanka?s Free Trade Zones. The zones are managed by the government?s Board of Investment (BOI), which sets wages and working conditions and has a history of discouraging union activity. In the past, union members have faced intimidation, and new workers have been warned not to join unions.
